Clapham Crescent is a popular residential street within the area of Clapham, known as Clapham High Street.

Clapham High Street houses two of London’s deep level air raid shelters, it was also damaged by bombs during World War II.

At the western end of the High Street is the Holy Trinity Church, which was home to the Clapham Sect in the early nineteenth century.

The Clapham Sect helped campaign for the abolition of the slave trade and was instrumental in the introduction of the Slave Trade Act 1807.
