Andy Shaw joins the team at Oliver Finn

Oliver Finn's Andy Shaw
Oliver Finn appoints Andy Shaw
Andy Shaw has been appointed sales negotiator at flat-fee estate agent Oliver Finn.  Andy brings a wealth of local experience - and a love of Chiswick - to the role.

Previously, 26-year old Andy sold West London properties in Notting Hill, Kensington and Shepherds Bush.  His decision to join Oliver Finn was based on the company’s refreshing approach to selling property – charging a flat fee regardless of the asking price.  “It’s a much cheaper way for Chiswick homeowners to sell their property and I’m sure it will spread right across London”, says Andy.

“At first it seems too good to be true, but now the word is out, and people realise they don’t have to pay extortionate fees to estate agents.  Vendors can always go with another agent if it doesn’t work out but ‘touch-wood’ so far we have managed to come up trumps.”

Andy was also impressed with the amount of support Oliver Finn gives to the local community.  “We sponsor eight neighbourhood schools for example and local families really do appreciate the funding.”

Andy’s affiliation with Chiswick started in Burnaby Gardens, where he grew up, attending Falcons School for Boys before transferring to Latymer School in Hammersmith.  When not selling properties, Andy’s abundant energy and competitive spirit, is put to good use at Old Meadonians Football Club in Dukes Meadows.

The Club is in the Amateur Football Combination, the biggest adult football league in Europe.  ‘My favourite thing to do on the planet is to play football.  There is even a veterans team for the over 45s and Andy is looking forward to a lengthy playing career with the Meads.

When not selling properties or kicking footballs, Andy plays drums and piano in Chiswick Music Studio which is underneath Chiswick Snooker Club on Power Road.  “It would be fantastic to be discovered one day by a record label but in the mean time it’s a great place to make music and hang out with friends.”

Andy’s preferred local pit-stops include Grove Park Deli for the home cooked food and The Bedlington Café for its friendly atmosphere.  The Copper Cow, which has just opened on the site of The Coyote Café in Fauconberg Road, is fast becoming another favourite.

“I’m always amazed that people still pay over the odds to sell their houses.  Even my mum’s friend and neighbour in Burnaby Gardens, sold their house recently, and paid a massive fee to another agent.  It took months to sell and they had very few prospective buyers.  With Oliver Finn she would have had shed-loads of viewings because we have so many properties in the area.”

“Once homeowners realise how much money they will save they are happy to give us a try.  But the proof of the pudding is on completion when there is only a small bill from the estate agent.”
